Even with the playoffs out of reach, Vancouver Whitecaps forward Camilo made sure to stamp his name in Major League Soccer history on Sunday evening.

The Brazilian scored all three of his team’s goals as the Whitecaps defeated the Colorado Rapids, 3-0, taking his total to 22 goals on the season to earn the MLS Golden Boot. Due to his performance, Camilo was our choice for SBI MLS Player of the Week.

Camilo beat out Peguy Luyindula, Diego Valeri, and Juan Agudelo for this week’s honors.

What did you think of Camilo’s performance? Which player stood out the most to you in MLS Week 36?

  1. So now the Fire’s season is over is Magee still a candidate for league MVP? Wouldn’t an MVP at least help you to the playoffs?

  2. Well deserved for Camilo certainly. Nice to see the recognition for Peguy too though. He really looked classy last night. He adds a different dimension to NY’s otherwise blue collar (+Henry brilliance) attack.

  3. Canada needs to do something to speed up the immigration process for him. He’s already stated he wants to play for them, and he’d be a huge upgrade to any of the strikers they have now.

      • Being top-scorer in MLS won’t get Brazil’s attention. It’s one of the reasons Ronaldinho didn’t want to come to MLS and stayed in Brazil, he wants to play in 2014 and playing in MLS would have hurt his chances.

      • Brazil’s not calling up a 25 year old playing in MLS. He’s nowhere near the national team picture. They’ve got loads of guys like him in leagues all over the world. He knows that, which is why he’s interested in playing for Canada.
