The end of the NCAA College Soccer regular season is closing in with several conference championships still up for grabs, while a few conference tournaments are already kicking off.
UCLA upset California last weekend to take the lead in the Pac-12, but now the Bruins have to wait to see how this weekend’s results affect the standings. Both California and Washington have two games in hand and face off on Sunday in a game that could determine the conference title.
Maryland and Notre Dame are tied atop the ACC standings going into their final games of the regular season. Maryland must go on the road to Virginia Tech Friday night, while Notre hosts Pittsburgh.
The top four teams in the Big West will square off on Saturday night. More than 11,000 people watched a 1-1 draw between UC-Santa Barbara and Cal Poly in San Luis Obispo two weeks ago. Now the teams go to Santa Barbara. Cal State Northridge had been one of the highest scoring teams in the country, but then dropped back to back 1-0 results before winning 1-0 over Cal State Fullerton in a midweek match. The Matadors get a UC-Irvine side on Saturday that has won four straight and six of their last eight matches.
The American Athletic Conference and the Colonial Athletic Association kick off their conference tournaments this weekend. Elon and Furman get started in the first round of the Southern Conference tournament on Saturday. Wofford won the regular season title and has a bye to the second round.
