After nearly two months on the sidelines, Danny Williams has returned to practice for Reading FC.
Williams resumed full training with Reading earlier this week after dealing with a bone bruise in his foot that was sustained in a 1-0 victory over Leeds United on Sept. 18, according to a report out of England. The U.S. Men’s National Team midfielder admitted in the report that he felt some pain in his foot in his first session back with the Championship club on Monday, but stated that he is ready to contribute again despite saying that the injury will take a long time to heal completely.
Williams could make his Reading return as soon as Saturday when they host Queens Park Rangers. The versatile 24-year-old Williams has seven league appearances for the Royals this season, his first with the club.
What do you think of Williams returning to practice for Reading? Worried by him saying that he still feels some pain in his foot? What do you think are his chances of making next year’s U.S. World Cup team?

So many Debbie downers. I hope there are not as many nay sayers when you are all down.
he wasn’t that impressive even when he was “up”
The player pool at CM is deep. IMO Williams is on the outside looking in. However, he is still fairly young and will be able to contribute for years to come once some of the older players step aside after the world cup….
Jones (32), Beckerman (32), Cameron (29), Kljestan (28), Edu (28), Holden (28), Torres (27), Bradley (27), Willaims (25), Mixx (24)
I for one expect there to be a number of players fighting for the CM spots after the WC.
Yep, here it is

Pretty sure he hobbled out of training today or yesterday. I think he’ll end up being unavailable again tomorrow.
URRRRZZZZZZZZZZ!!! Hope he’s able to help out the squad soon. Been poor in the midfield that last couple games.
Fill out your central midfield depth chart. He’s not as far down as you think when healthy. Bradley, jones, Cameron, then beckerman, kljestan, and Williams all pretty close.
You forgot Mixx< Holden an Edu. Holden and Edu are arguably at the bottom of the list given their current situation. But IMO Mixx is right there with Cameron.
*Mixx, Holden
Major oversight on my part with Mixx. He’s a nice offensive type sub, probably competing with Kljestan for that role. Williams is probably competing with Beckerman for the last CDM slot.
Just my opinion, but I wouldn’t even put Holden or Edu on the list until they are both getting consistent PT.
I wish him the best, but I really hope we don’t bring him to Brasil. I know he is versatile and athletic, but he is at best our third option at every position he plays. He just hasn’t impressed when he laces up for us.
I don’t think you have to worry about that. His chances of making that plane are quite small. I think he does give us some depth at a couple of positions though.
He isn’t great and may never be but good for him to be healthy
ah, the ole backhanded compliment.
backstabbing well-wish
Well, he is kinda mediocre. I mean he is at least as good beckerman.(Is this backhanded too? heh) Probably will be better than him someday though.
What if he plays great for the rest of the season? For these fringe guys, it doesn’t make sense to be making decisions right now about next summer.
