Americans Abroad: Midweek Rewind

Everton finally snapped a winless run at Old Trafford that went back 21 years, and Tim Howard played a big part in making that happen.

Howard was integral to the Toffees picking up their first road victory against Manchester United since 1992, making six saves and opening the door for Bryan Oviedo’s late winner in Wednesday’s 1-0 win. For Howard, the triumph over his former club gave him two consecutive cleansheets and eight on the season.

On the offensive side of things, Jozy Altidore and Alejandro Bedoya each found the back of the net for their respective clubs. Altidore scored his long-awaited first Premiership goal with Sunderland in a 4-3 loss to Chelsea on Wednesday, and Bedoya helped inspire FC Nantes to a 2-1 comeback victory against Valenciennes on Tuesday with a strong performance that also saw him draw a penalty kick.

Danny Williams was another player to make an impact. Williams, who recently returned from a lengthy spell on the sidelines, delivered the game-winning assist as Reading knocked off Charlton Athletic, 1-0, on Tuesday. Williams started and played 64 minutes in the match.
