DaMarcus Beasley won’t be playing with a new club this spring after all.

One of the more bizarre transfer sagas ended on Tuesday when Liga MX club Querétaro announced that Beasley wouldn’t be moving to the club from Puebla FC. This is despite Querétaro having released a statement on Dec. 10 that Beasley had completed a transfer to the Gallos Blancos.

“DaMarcus Beasley will not play for our team since he has decided to give his services to another club,” the statement read on Querétaro’s website.

Beasley confirmed on his official Twitter account on Tuesday evening that the move to Querétaro was off, saying that the transfer saga wasn’t in his control.

I do not know what happened according to Puebla and Querétaro, but I’m staying in Puebla for next season. It was not in my control,” Beasley said on Twitter. “I’m happy to start training and playing tomorrow and be back again with my teammates! The first day (of training) for me, I’m excited.”

The agent for the U.S. Men’s National Team left back, Richard Motzkin, had denied the report that Beasley had completed a transfer to Querétaro despite an press release from the club.

Beasley didn’t have the best of seasons for Puebla during the Apertura, likely suffering from fatigue after playing the entire spring with Puebla and then the summer and fall with the USMNT. Now having a long winter break to recuperate, there’s hope that Beasley can build on his season where he made 12 appearances and didn’t score a single goal.

  1. Not what ESPN Deportes reported yesterday, they said that Beasley when to the Queretaro facilities & was like what the heck is this. Was not what thought it would be & called Puebla back to tell them he wanted to return.to Puebla.
