Ching named managing director of NWSL expansion club Dash

MLS: D.C. United at Houston Dynamo

By DAN KARELL

Brian Ching seemed headed for a front office role following retirement from the Houston Dynamo, and he’s already found himself a new role that will allow him to remain in Houston.

On Monday, Ching was named the managing director of the newest expansion franchise in the National Women’s Soccer League, the Houston Dash. As the managing director, Ching will be responsible for the “day-to-day duties on both the business and technical sides” of the Dash as they head into their inaugural season. Ching will report to Dynamo president Chris Canetti.

“I am really looking forward to this new role with the club,” Ching said in a statement. “It is an exciting time for me and the club and a huge opportunity to help the Dynamo organization grow. I plan on making the Dash just as successful as the Dynamo on and off the field.”

Ching and Canetti are currently searching for a head coach and others to fill out their technical staff.

The 35-year-old recently wrapped up a 13-year professional career with the first-ever MLS testimonial match in Ching’s honor. Ching finished his career as the All-Time leading goal-scorer in Dynamo history with 56 in eight years at the club.
