Report: Kaiserslautern to release Wooten

Andrew Wooten Kaiserslautern (Kaiserslautern)

By FRANCO PANIZO

It sounds like Andrew Wooten will be looking for a new place to call home this winter.

According to a German report, Wooten is one of four players that Kaiserslautern will soon release as part of the club’s plans to reshape its roster during the winter transfer window. Kaiserslautern are currently in fourth place in the 2. Bundesliga standings, three points shy of the promotion playoff spot.

Wooten, a 24-year-old forward who formerly represented the U.S. on the Under-23 Men’s National Team, has been with Kaiserslautern since 2009. He signed a three-year deal with the club near the conclusion of the 2011-12 season, but has made just one start in four appearances since.

What do you make of Kaiserslautern releasing Wooten? Where would you like to see him go next? Should MLS make an effort to sign him?
