Forward Chris Rolfe is staying put with the Chicago Fire, the only Major League Soccer club he’s played with since going pro in 2005.

Rolfe re-signed with Chicago, the club announced Wednesday, one day after removing his name from the MLS Re-Entry Draft list. Per league and team policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.

“We’re pleased to have signed Chris to a new contract,” head coach Frank Yallop said in a statement. “He’s a dangerous attacking threat and provides a steady, veteran presence in the locker room. We’re glad he will remain a part of the club.”

Rolfe had opted out of the MLS Re-Entry Draft Tuesday, clearing the way to renew with Chicago. Rolfe had started his professional career being picked up by Chicago in the 2005 MLS SuperDraft, where he stayed with the team until 2009. Rolfe, a fan favorite in Chicago, returned to the Fire in 2012 after three seasons in Denmark, where he appeared in 32 matches, tallying six goals.

Rolfe has 48 goals and 22 assists for the Fire, including four goals and an assist last season.
