Real Salt Lake will be losing more than just one coach this offseason.
According to sources close to the situation, assistant head coach C.J. Brown is packing his bags and heading back to the Chicago Fire, where he will serve under new manager Frank Yallop. Brown, 38, spent his entire playing career with the Fire from 1998-2010 before joining RSL’s coaching staff in January 2011.
During Brown’s time at Real Salt Lake, the club reached the 2013 MLS Cup Final, 2013 U.S. Open Cup final and 2011 CONCACAF Champions league final but was unable to win any of those championship matches.
It was announced on Tuesday night that the out-of-contract Kreis was leaving Real Salt Lake to become New York City FC’s first manager.
