Liverpool’s visit to Tottenham Hotspur at White Hart Lane headlines a jam-packed Soccer Sunday of action from all over the world.
Liverpool have posted impressive back-to-back victories thanks to the continued hot streak of striker Luis Suarez, but the Reds have not fared well away from Anfield in recent weeks. Suarez and Company will go up against one of the English Premier League’s toughest defenses in Tottenham Hotspur, who have only allowed seven goals at home this season.
Another European match to watch today will be Inter Milan’s visit to Napoli, a Top-4 battle of high-powered offenses in Serie A. Napoli have been extremely tough to beat at home this season, outscoring opponents 17-6 at the San Paolo. Inter Milan are currently on an eight-match unbeaten run in league play and will be looking for an extra boost ahead of next weekend’s Milan Derby.
The day’s action will wrap up in Mexico, where Club Leon hold a 2-0 aggregate lead over defending champions Club America in the Apertura Playoff Final. Leon have one hand on the title after their big win at home earlier in the week, and they will head to the famed Estadio Azteca looking secure the league title.

Rafa Marquez, captain of Club Leon wins the championship.
Bah, humbug.
And Club America gets a participation trophy! And medals for everyone!!!!!!! Dinner at Shakey’s!
“at least you tried” trophies
William Yarbrough having a monster game.
Bill es indeedly. Good stuff!
And he’s only 24!
Gonna really detest seeing Rafa Marquez crowned Champion, but America don’t look like they’re coming back.
Good man that ref.
The way things have worked out, it’s a damn shame Dempsey didn’t end up at Liverpool, where he seemed destined to go. He’d probably still be over there.
spurs never should have sold DEMPSEY. he’d have scored today.
Let’s see if he’s got the magic. Rumor has it he’s off to Fulham
http://soccerly.com/article/jonnyrico/us-citizen-in-liga-mx-final
Heres to the guy that told me that I was wrong in wanting Yarbrough in the USMNT because he didn’t compare to Hamid or Johnson. Well he’s in the Liga MX final and put better numbers than Johnson and Hamid this season.
They call him an Mexican american. I think you would have to switch those around. Clearly a American Mexican.
wow, very interesting ThatKidNandez, didn’t even know about him. also, Increase, he clearly states in the article that he feels 100% mexican.
Exactly, Mexican is the noun,
I was also kinda joking around because most people would never think about the importance of switching the words.
even if you want him he considers himself mexican and wants to play for Mexico
Tottenham with a -12 goal difference against the top 5 teams in the table, after playing each once. Yet to win against any and only drawing Everton and Chelsea.
Even though they have been eliminated from the champions, Juventus football has a good flavor to it. 2~0 28 minutes in.
5-0
Reds just tore the Spurs a new butthole.
And Spurs is a CL contender, or it was once,
Bring on Man City and Chelsea. Gonna be a fantastic match.
Losing Bale pretty much killed off any chance of them threatening any of the top contenders
If Arsenal/Man City shows that Arsenal are pretenders to the EPL throne, this game is proving Tottenham are pretenders to a Champions League spot.
And Liverpool scores again.
Suarez with 17 goals in 11 matches. Has outscored 10 PL clubs.
I want his babies
Sure. Who cares if your baby is a crazed, cannibalistic narcissist that gnaws his way out of your belly, as long as upheld can kick a ball.
God only know how autocorrect turned he into upheld.
You can name the child Stinkface.
#Prolific #Suarez
#deadlyinfrontofgoal
What a day. 🙂
Suarez has to be a top 5 striker in the world right? Messi, Ronaldo, then either Falcao or Suarez…
Messi, Ronaldo, Suarez, Falcao, Ibrahimovic, Cavani, Lewandowski, Rooney, RVP, Higuain
I like Travis’s suggestion of Aguero over Higuain, but otherwise I have no problems with this list.
If I was a billionaire, it would be up top for me in 2013:
Ronaldo——-Ibra——–Suarez
same here. that would score so many goals dude
technically Ronaldo isn’t a striker
Ibra is definitely in the top 5 striker list, Aguero probably as well.
oh right Aguero. He’s quite underrated though maybe because he has the likes of Messi,Tevez and Higuain ahead of him for Argentina
If we are taking strikers…pure, out and out goal scorers, than the crazy, big-teeth, Uruguayan is it. I didn’t see this game, I was sleeping but having 16 plus goals in only ten games is very impressive indeed.
Flanagan with a cracking goal nutmegs overlapping runs congrats Flanagan.
Nice form on Paulinho’s spinning back heel into Suarez. Way to make a smart play when your team is trying to get back in the game. See ya dip$h$t.
Waiting to see if anyone argues that shouldnt have been a red… Not that it couldnt have happened to a nicer guy…
It was deliberate. Luis clearly beat him to the ball and Paulinho planted his raised cleat into the midsection. Now is Luis is swell guy. Nope, he’s a tool (and probably troubled personally given his behavior) so I get some folks won’t mind or perhaps like what happened.
Cheers all
Completely agree, definitely a red regardless of anyone’s opinion of Suarez.
Looks like Paulinho was Kung fu fighting (HAH)
Cause Suarez was fast as lightning
That high boot was a little bit frightening
But it came with shitty timing
The second goal makes me wonder if Lloris would be an awesome volleyball player.
when it happened live i thought suarez had made a meal out of it due to his scream, upon replay it was a very obvious red
Turns out Bale was that important to Tottenham. Absolutely no threat to the Liverpool D so far.
who’s this bale guy you speak of? it was all downhill when they got rid of dempsey!
Yeah. It’s amazing how many flaws can be disguised by a dynamic attacker who can regularly score anytime, and make goals out of almost nothing.
Amazing to think an 80 million? player could be a steal at the price.
cracking game so far, but I must say, spurs are a mess in the midfield, where supposedly they spent most of their money. soldado is not a lone forward kind of player., together w/ defoe would help a lot. chadli is the only midfielder doing anything…..liverpool sure are fun to watch….
Hendo hits the net. Happy for him as he’s been involved in the attacking play. Crazy sequence with two great saves from Lloris. Where is the Tottenham D? Answer shredded.
getting crushed in transition, no midfield resistance
Lovely football just lovely.
Brilliant, tricksy… Luis. C’mon you Reds! Lively start to this one.
Suarez feasts on the Spurs defense. Lookit them chompers.
Suarez might be the best forward in the Prem this year
agree, the only other forward being aguero, that comes close.
man he is fun to watch, and shows up to play hard all game long
His name is Suarez
He wears the famous red
I just can’t get enough, I just can’t get enough
He like to bite defenders
Until they all have bled
He just can’t get enough
Haha
He just wants to score goals!!!
Liverpool youngsters are doing their job.
Wow what a play by the pile.
Let’s go Liverpool!!
A tall task for the Liverpool youngsters.
Sterling looking lively thus far. 🙂
Surprisingly good today. Hodgsen is likely interested by this performance. Sterling has looked better the last few weeks,
Sterling is not looking like a 19 year old I sure tell you that. He seems to be enjoying his football. 🙂
Jones on the bench for the 3rd match in a row for Schalke now. Does he try to leave in the January window? Does Klinsmann stick with him even if he goes to a smaller club or is on the bench the rest of the year?
Johannsson and AZ continue to fall off the pace a bit as they loose and he doesn’t score for a 3rd straight match. Is that something to start to worry about or will they bounce back?
Of coarse now comes Jones off the bench for Schalke. Its just been a strange year with Jones and the different reports surrounding him.
Reds never say DIE
where is Agger?
and why doesn’t Jozy score for Sunderland? or take Freekicks or Penalty Kicks? It would up his morale
That is a great question with regards to the free kicks. He seems to have a knack at those.
His performance yesterday is going to cost him. He is usually Sunderland’s best player but his lack of scoring is on him at this point. That missed goal yesterday was inexcusable. He will be bench for the next game because of it.
Jozy’s a head case. He needs to stop letting his frustrations getting the best of him. Again, one could see it yesterday. He let’s things in the game affect him too much.
It’s going to be a long year for him. He and Sunderland are in serious trouble.
Tough day at the office for Guzan. AV with sloppy passing in their third of the pitch leading to that third goal. Maybe Guzan could’ve done better in reacting to get a hand on Cleverly’s shot I dunno. Regardless, thinking Man Poo has 1 or 2 more in them.
I’ve never been impressed with Welbeck, but Aston Villa is making Danny boy look very good.
Welbeck with a rare goal.
Man U scores. 🙁
And again. 🙁
2-0 Man U. v Aston Villa
It’s going to be a long day for Guzan…
No college cup, listing? Boo
C’mon you Reds!
Here’s to hoping Suarez continues his goal scoring ways.
How do you think Rodgers adjusts the lineup today without Gerrard? Guessing we have a midfield triangle with Lucas in his holding spot and Allen interchanging with Henderson. Should be a great match and hoping Luis can bang a couple in.
Cheers
It’s going to be a tough match without Henderson, Sturridge, and Gerrard.
False 9 may work…
——Aspas—–Suarez
————-Coutinho
Sterling——-Lucas—–Moses
Flanno—Sakho–Skrtl–Glen
————–Mignolet
or 4-3-1-2 with Coutinho as CAM.
Thought Henderson would be in the squad today? If not, then your lineup with Countinho up top with Suarez and give Allen a run out at CAM behind the strikers. Don’t think Aspas or Alberto have shown enough to start.
Hendo is starting.
Lucas, Hendo, Allen midfield, and Sterling, Suarez, Coutinho up top. Likely a 4-3-3
4-2-3-1 is what NBCSN are saying.
camn’ u ‘otters, eh, Bean!?
Oh it’s my stalker Kinglsy! Still thinking about me, old girl?
Here’s the confirmed line up:
Mignolet, Flanagan, Sakho, Skrtel, Johnson, Allen, Lucas, Henderson, Sterling, Coutinho, Suarez.
Bench:
Jones, Kelly, Agger, Toure, Moses, Aspas, Alberto.
