2014 MLS Combine (Day One Live Commentary)

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. — The 2014 MLS Combine kicks off today as coaches and general managers from across Major League Soccer’s 19 teams converge on Central Broward Regional Park for a closer look at the 2014 MLS Draft player pool.

The Combine, spanning over the next five days, will provide teams with some answers about some prospects who could go very high in the first round of Thursday’s draft, as well as some lesser-known players trying to play their way into the draft.

SBI will be providing live commentary on today’s matches so please feel free to follow the action here. As always, you are welcome to share your own thoughts and opinions in the comments section below.

Enjoy the action (Commentary is after the jump):

  1. Does anyone know how Enrique Cardenas of UC Irvine performed? That guy has some great potential. He’s small but very strong, he’s also very wise with the ball (besides his height, he has it all… Attack, defense, great touch, and a cannon of a shot). I can see that young man going pro no doubt! I’m really hoping he performed very well.

  2. Was Omanga a sub? When did he come on, and how did he do besides the (what sounds like a pretty nice) goal? Curious because I watched him play in PDL with the Portland Phoenix (Maine). I liked him but I was pleasantly surprised to find he was at the Combine.

  3. Since this didn’t stream anywhere online, what players stood out?

It sounds like Diouf was in beast mode and Dean didn’t perform as well as possible, but who else helped and hurt their cases?

    Who was the biggest surprise?

Did anyone come out of nowhere and impress?
