Loyd re-signs with FC Dallas

Zach Loyd

By FRANCO PANIZO

Zach Loyd has spent his entire career at FC Dallas, and that will not be changing any time soon.

FC Dallas announced Thursday that they have re-signed Loyd to a new deal that will keep him at the club that drafted him back in 2010. Loyd’s contract expired following the 2013 season, but FC Dallas tendered a bona fide offer to him late in the year and the two parties eventually agreed to terms.

“It was always a priority for FC Dallas to sign Zach to a new agreement,” said FC Dallas technical director Fernando Clavijo in a prepared statement. “It was not until the season was over that we started to make progress. Zach has been a big part of FC Dallas for the last four seasons and we are ecstatic to have him back.”

The 26-year-old Loyd, who was drafted fifth overall by FC Dallas in the 2010 MLS SuperDraft, started 24 of the 25 matches he played in during the 2013 campaign. He has three goals and seven assists in 111 career games in MLS.

Happy to see Loyd returning to FC Dallas? Do you see him having a strong 2014 season? What area should FC Dallas focus on now?
