It seems like the Apertura season only ended a few days ago, but today marks the official start of the 2014 Liga MX Clausura season.
On December 15, Club Leon were crowned Liga MX champions with a resounding victory at Estadio Azteca, but they’ll have their hands full with trying to hold on to the title during the Clausura season. Everyone from Cruz Azul and Morelia to Chivas and Club America improved in the offseason.
With Miguel Herrera becoming the full time boss of El Tri, former Club Tijuana head coach Antonio Mohamed steps into Estadio Azteca hoping to lead his squad to a third straight final, while Xolos believe that former Venezuela National Team boss Cesar Farias can build off of Mohamed’s accomplishments from one year ago.
Heading into an action packed first weekend, two matches right off the bat to watch will be Morelia vs. Queretaro and America vs. Tigres UANL. Morelia took already what was a stacked team and added to it with Arevalo Rios, Felipe Baloy, and Duvier Riascos, among others, while Tigres look to send a shockwave throughout Mexico with a positive result at America.
