Pickens training with Stabaek

Matt Pickens

Bob Bradley figured to test the MLS market for player talent once he took over Norwegian side Stabaek, and now he has an MLS Cup winner training for a spot on his team.

Former Colorado Rapids goalkeeper Matt Pickens is training with Stabaek. Sources have confirmed to SBI that Pickens could join the club on loan from the Rapids, who still hold his rights. Colorado recently signed former Atlanta Silverbacks goalkeeper Joe Nasco to be the back-up to returning starter Clint Irwin, who took the starting job from Pickens when Pickens suffered a broken arm early in the 2013 season.

Pickens isn’t the first American to head to Stabaek for a trial. Former Los Angeles Galaxy midfielder Michael Stephens also took a trip to Norway in search of a contract, while Bradley is believed to be eying other American players for potential moves to his new club.

What do you think of this development? See Stabaek being a good option for Pickens? Think he could still start for some teams in MLS?
