FC Dallas bolstered their forward line considerably on Friday with the acquisition of Uruguayan forward David Texeira.

FCD announced the signing of the former Groningen striker after securing his services as a young Designated Player. His arrival comes soon after FC Dallas also picked up Colombian forward/midfielder Andres Escobar on loan from Dynamo Kiev.

“He’s a striker who finishes, a striker who works extremely hard off the ball and is going to complement what we have already with Escobar, Diaz, Castillo and Blas (Perez),”  FC Dallas Technical Director Fernando Clavijo said. “He’s a guy we have followed for a long time. He was probably one of the best players in the 2011 U-20 World Cup in Colombia and from there he went to the Netherlands right away.”

Texeira, who turns 23 next week, scored 14 goals in 65 matches with Groningen.

Here are some other stories from around MLS:

JOSEPH JOINS REVS FOR PRESEASON

Shalrie Joseph spent the best years of his career starring for the New England Revoluion, and after a two-year stint in the Western Conference, he appears ready to return to his old stomping grounds.

Joseph has joined the Revs for preseason, and is on trial after having the Seattle Sounders buy out his contract, sources have told SBI. Joseph joined the Sounders via trade from Chivas USA last year, and was due for a Designated Player payday in 2014, but the Sounders have bought out his contract, making him available to sign for a reasonable price with New England.

Joseph could help provide the midfield bite the Revs have been lacking since he left New England, though at 35 it remains to be seen if he can still be counted on to be a consistent starter.

Joseph isn’t the first familiar face in MLS to join the Revs for preseason. Former Vancouver Whitecaps midfielder Daigo Kobayashi has also joined New England for preseason.

CHIVAS USA ADDING MOORE

Chivas USA may have a new owner in MLS, but that isn’t stopping the club from continuing to build a squad.

The Goats have completed the signing of English forward Luke Moore, Goal.com reported on Friday. Moore joins Chivas USA from Turkish club Elazigspor.

Moore joins a Chivas USA attack that has also added Adolfo Bautista and Mauro Rosales this offseason, though with leading scorer Erick Torres reportedly heading back to Chivas Guadalajara this summer, the Goats will need both Moore and Bautista to produce if the team is going to climb out of the Western Conference basement.
