SBI MLS Rookie of the Week: Harrison Shipp

MLS: Chicago Fire at Portland Timbers

By RYAN TOLMICH

The Chicago Fire were going to need a spark in order to have a chance of earning a result against defending MLS Supporters Shield winners New York Red Bulls on Sunday, and they received that spark from the team’s least experienced player.

Shipp helped set up the Fire’s only goal of the match, serving a perfect corner kick for Jeff Larentowicz to head home in an eventual 1-1 tie. That assist, and his overall effective play, helped earn Shipp SBI MLS Rookie of the Week honors.

Shipp beat out the Montreal Impact’s Eric Miller and Chivas USA’s Kris Tyrpak for this week’s honors.

What did you think of Shipp’s performance? Which rookie stood out to you in MLS Week Three?
