The San Antonio Scorpions’ recent addition of Eric Hassli was a sign of things to come.
The Scorpions announced on Thursday that they have signed two more former MLS players, agreeing to deals with attacking midfielder Josue Soto and right back Jonathan Borrajo.
The 25-year-old Soto, who previously played in NASL with the Scorpions, spent last season with Chivas USA. Borrajo, 26, was with the New York Red Bulls in 2012 before playing for Norwegian first division side Mjondalen IF last year.
“Since his first season with our organization, Josue has been a player we rate highly,” said San Antonio head coach Alen Marcina. “After another season plying his trade in MLS, he’s continued to demonstrate consistent growth and increasing potential. We’re very pleased to add such a versatile midfielder with great vision, distribution and creativity.”
“Jonathan is a player we identified in our off season who has prior experience playing for the New York Red Bulls and professionally in Norway,” added Marcina. “He provides width and pace to our right side and he’s a dynamic defender that we’re delighted to have join the squad.”
San Antonio now has a 19-player roster littered with current or former MLS players, including goalkeeper Jeremy Vuolo, on-loan midfielder Sam Garza, and veteran centerback Julius James.
The Scorpions most recently signed Hassli, a former Designated Player.
