SBI MLS Best XI: Week Five

It was a good week for U.S. Men’s National Team stars in MLS, and a good week for international midfielders as well.

Michael Bradley and Clint Dempsey turned in standout performances last weekend to lead their teams to important results, and earn their places in the SBI MLS Best XI for Week Five. Bradley’s virtuoso effort in midfield helped lead Toronto FC to a big win at Columbus while Dempsey’s hat trick helped Seattle pull off a stunning comeback against the Portland Timbers.

Most other weeks, Diego Chara’s efforts for Portland in that draw would have good enough for SBI MLS Player of the Week (which went to Dempsey). Chara’s two stunning goals and outstanding play in central midfield was key to the Timbers putting on a show on Saturday. Jose Mari also delivered a brace for his team, including the best goal in the league in Week Five.
