  1. Hopefully, Klinsmann start pairing Brooks and O’Neil against C level team, in friendlies.

I could see the future USNT:

    Kempin
    Yedellin Brooks O’Neil Oce
    Arriola Gall Green
    Hoyos
    Rubio

      • Hmm, the Acosta V. Yedlin wars will be good ones. The amount and conflict this will generate in USMNT fans will be wonderful.
It will be like Jones v Beckerman all over again.

      • We alsocould play this team against like El Salvador or Guatemala, China, Armenia or a Viking C team (like Denmark, Sweden, Iceland etc…). So these already have pressure off playing with full USNT, have some experience and develop some chemistry.

      • I honestly dont think at the moment that those u21s could hold their own against any of these teams, maybe the viking Cs, but thats a pretty far step down. They would all be good challenges though

      • why? he’s the starting LB for this age group right now and he was not as bad as some people say. give him time, he’s a solid LB option. certainly needs to continue to grow, but he has great potential.

      • Its pretty obvious you have watched very little of the players you’re naming. Listing off names you’ve seen on yanks abroad is not an accurate way to predict the Olympic team.

      • what are you talking about? that’s simply not true. i don’t even go to yanks abroad. any of the players i just listed are established with the US system or players that everyone knows about, assuming they pay some sort of attention to US youth soccer.

i’m naming players i know who are in the age group and who have been part of the US setup, either at the U-20 level, this U-21 level (which is the same players anyway), and other levels of youth soccer.

are you really unfamiliar with all those players????? so much so that when someone lists them, you just assume it’s a copy/paste situation? give me a break dude. the truth is i spend way too much time reading up on US players, at any level.

      • really, what’s going on is that you assume i don’t know what i’m talking about simply because i think Ocegueda is a decent option at LB while you think he is trash.

        your input, “Ocegueda? haha no.”

learn to accept people will have different opinions. clearly Ramos and the US coaching staff don’t think Oce is all that bad given he continues to get called up and plays.

      • agreed. Walker Zimmerman is going to be in the conversation too. although he’ll likely be behind Brooks and Packwood given those two are already starting in Europe.

i think Trapp, Stanko, O’Neill, and Lopez are going to battle for that #6 spot.

    • well, i’d think we would have 11 players on the field. i also think Cropper has the GK spot locked down for this age group. but who knows what will happen over 2 years.

i do doubt Rubio is the striker for the U-23s unless when he signs for the first team he plays and scores. which is certainly possible. but he has to jump ahead of Cuevas, Villarreal, Kiesewetter, Mario Rodriguez, and Hernandez…not to mention guys like Salgado and Manneh will be pushing for a spot too. then add in potential guys like Bijev, Parker, and Henley (if they switch and/or choose the US) and you have a lot of competition up top.

      • according to “http://owhentheyanks.com/” he could be. he’s included in their list of ’94s. he has to obtain citizenship, so i’m sure it’s not a black & white situation, especially since he plays in Canada. probably a similar situation to Fagúndez and Nagbe.

      • moved to the US in 2010 and was picked up by Vancouver in 2013. so he’s got 3 years in the US already.

also forgot to mention Zelalem who holds a green card. we know JK and his staff have turned their attention to him now that Green switched, so we’ll see. much more complicated situation there.

      • Salgado fallen behind now. Mario Rodriguez, and Kiesewetter don’t know how well their playing, in Germany. Villarreal and Hernandez seem ignore by their teams, and Cuevas? Where’s Cuevas now?

      • Salgado absolutely has, but we’re talking potential lineups for 2016. and he is back and now playing in USL Pro on loan. he has time to push his name back into the conversation.

Mario Rodriguez, i believe, has not had the best season. but plenty of time and he is one of the main strikers for this age group.

Kiesewetter is on loan at Hertha Berlin II, 2 goals and 4 assists this season i believe. nothing crazy, but again, plenty of time for him to make a push.

Villarreal, well, he’s obvious not in a good situation as he doesn’t even get playing time with the reserve team. so that’s a bummer, but i don’t see him dropping below a guy like Rubio who is playing academy games only (for now).

Hernandez, not sure how his season is going but the guy showed he can play. i doubt Ramos forgets that.

Cuevas is in the Mexican second division for Lobos, although i’m not sure how much playing time he is getting. was called up for this U-21 camp. very much in the conversation.

i guess the point is, most of these guys are playing at least for reserve teams, which is fine for their age, while Rubio has to wait until he is 18 to sign a pro contract with Utrecht. i could absolutely see him surpassing them all if he plays well for Utrecht, but until then, i’m not ready to push him above he more established ’93s.

  2. It’s amazing to see the difference in Demspey when he came back from simply training and fighting for playing time with a much better team in the EPL (than the Sounders) to see his form skyrocket back to where it was years back.

Proof positive that MLS will dull the better players.

    • I don’t understand any of this comment.

It’s amazing to see what difference?

And what is proof positive that MLS will dull players? The fact that (as you state) his form has once again skyrocketed? Don’t get it man….

    • Wrong yet again. Seriously, Jack, we get it you don’t rate MLS (oh and yes I know you watch games and whatever). But you see, Jack, you don’t have to keep posting flawed logical comments to tell us what we already know about you.

Dempsey plays a few games with Fulham and has a good start to the season = proof positive that MLS sucks. Plays a few games with Spurs and…

There are reasons beyond your oversimplified, flawed swipes that explain why Deuce is having a better season this year. It’s actually good stuff worth a nice debate but when you come out the way you do it spoils the opportunity to talk sensibly about this.

      • I’ll stick with being right and in agreement with Klinsmann.

You keep believing playing in MLS is on par with the benefits of playing for an EPL team.

      • Where in my or in anyone’s posts did we say MLS is on par with the Prem? It’s not your position that bothers me because like MLS or not that’s your business (and from my position your loss). It’s your logic that bothers me. You jump to conclusions based on weak or false premises. No one here said MLS was the same as the Prem. We were simply addressing your constant bashing of the league with statements of how it “dulls” players, or as you put it in the Benji post “has sh** coaching”.

Then you somehow try to make it seem like your “right” position is in alignment with JK’s (who by the way does not have a problem with guys playing in MLS).

Like I said, we get it you don’t care for the league. No need to keep beating us over the head with your “right” posts.

    • ‘Proof positive that MLS will dull the better players.”

BS. This proved nothing about MLS. It proved that Clint clearly understands what he needs to get himself prepared for the dual challenge of transitioning to a new league and team and getting prepped

Dempsey was not healthy when he finally reported to the Sounders. Training with Fulham , given the extra edge he had to put on it just to get on the field, gave him that extra boost he needed coming off a bad period and needing to impress right away.

Assuming that this proves MLS dulls good players is like killing a dog, asking it to sit and when to fails to sit, ,concluding that the dog must be deaf or not well trained.

These were some of the reasons I was referring to in my post but I had this feeling that Jack has not interest in either know them or worse yet – does and ignores them all together.

    • he looks great, sharper as the season progresses since the first couple of games. he and Martins are playing well together. it’s not his first season in MLS or on that team. he’s not injured. the skills never left him and that team is blending. have never rooted for Seattle but find myself doing that with him playing on that team, which is weird

    • Moyes had to go. It has little to do with Moyes and a lot to do with the impossibility of being “the one who replaced Sir Alex.” The only way that would have been successful is if the new coach could improve upon SAF’s record (which was always highly unlikely).

Now the new guy gets to be “the one who replaced Moyes.” In other words: there are no expectations to live up to.

(Actually, he will be “the one who replaced the interim manager who replaced Moyes.” So even further removed from Ferg’s shadow.)

      • Oh, he did have to go and I don’t think it was the right job for him. But Rooney, Ferdinand, etc didn’t respect him and didn’t fear him. Some games they just didn’t try.

Like that story about Moyes telling Rio to watch videos of Jagielka and being insulted by it. That’s stupid. Moyes wanted Rio to stand and play a certain way and Rio thought he was too good for it. Despite say age.
Jagielka doesn’t suck. He is gunna go to the WC this summer.

    • Moyes was a mistake right from the start he lacked appeal and no top class player wanted to play for him. The beginning of the end started for him when he failed to sign Thiago. People talk about how the team wasn’t his but he had two transfer windows and only signed 2 players and one was in desperate need of PT to save his national team career. He also failed to motivate the fringe players and they all gave up on him because of that. Every coach managing a big team knows how important that should be …..example Klinsmann

      • Klinsmann has been learning though at least I feel that he has. I dunno that Moyes was or at this point in his career really can.

      • I am no expert, like say JK or other professional coaches, but it seems to me a little competition has ALWAYS served Clint well. He seems to play better with something to prove. I think his track record attests to this pretty clearly.
