Does anyone else out there have a feeling of dread about our chances of getting out of the group when we see Ronaldo creating insanely sick goals like this one week after week? 🙁
Probably, but let’s not overestimate Portugal. Now, I think Ronaldo is the best player in the world, if not the best of all-time. But even with him Portugal finished behind Russia in their group and just squeaked by Sweden (another one-man team) in the second round (where, by the way, all six goals over the two legs were scored by CR and Ibrahimovic).
Ronaldo is, IMO, the best in the world, and Portugal do have some talent elsewhere. But they’re certainly beatable.
If, according to your logic, Sweden and Portugal, who have two of the top 5 current players in the world, are a “one man team” then we would have to infer from that statement that USA is a “zero man team”
Problem is, if we beat Ghana, and then Germany beats Ghana, then Ghana is likely eliminated before the last game, and has nothing to play for against Portugal. I guess this is a “high class problem”
When people say stuff like this, it makes me think they’re underrating Ghana. Ghana’s attack is terrifying. With our backline looking pretty unsettled, I’m worried they’ll put up 3+ goals against us. I don’t want to underrate a team with Ronaldo, Moutinho, and Nani, but I’m not sure a win against Ghana is any more likely than a win against Portugal.

nope cuz he does that against anyone and he plays for Real Madrid. Madrid >Portugal NT
Telling that his teammates didn’t really react all that much. Guy probably does stuff like that every training session.
Break the guy’s ankle in the first 5 minutes.
Magisterial!
Omar would have blocked that
Seriously folks. A win against Ghana is an absolute must.

Every team is beatable -_-

Ronaldo is obviously incredible but Portugal is not unbeatable.

Totally fair point.
If he can string together a few more good club performances, he might muster the confidence to face the U.S.A. In the WC.
He finally dared to Zlatan.
That really is very Zlatan.
Portugal plays like crap against USA….then that happens. That’d be our luck.
oh I could do that.
Now that was a must-see goal.
