A quartet of Mother’s Day offerings in Major League Soccer help round out what has already been an exciting day in the world of soccer.

The Portland Timbers and LA Galaxy renew acquaintances in the day’s first match, as Caleb Porter and Bruce Arena match wits at Providence Park (2:30pm, NBC Sports). The Timbers posted their first win of 2014 last weekend and will look to build on that by beating a Galaxy team they had the better of in 2013.

The Colorado Rapids take on struggling Chivas USA in the day’s next MLS match (3pm, MLS Direct Kick) as Pablo Mastroeni’s side try to pitch a third straight shutout by knocking off a Chivas USA side winless in eight.

The New England Revolution play host to the Seattle Sounders in the day’s best match-up (6pm, MLS Direct Kick) as Clint Dempsey faces the Revs for the first time. New England is unbeaten in four (3-0-1) and will look to halt Seattle’s torrid streak of five straight wins.

The day’s final offering features the Houston Dynamo playing host to unbeaten Real Salt Lake (7pm, MLS Direct Kick). The Dynamo have won two straight and will try to use their home-field advantage against an RSL side that has been playing some of the best soccer in the league.
