Uruguay joins Costa Rica in the knockout stage from Group D, as the South Americans eliminated Italy from the World Cup thanks to a spectacular header from Diego Godín.

Godín scored a goal in the UEFA Champions League Final and scored the goal that won La Liga for Atlético Madrid. The captain of La Celeste can now add the winning goal against Italy to that list of accolades, as well as the SBI Man of the Match award for Tuesday’s victory.

One minute after a controversial incident between Luis Suarez and Giorgio Chiellini took place, the 28-year-old fired in the lone goal of the match on a corner kick delivery from Gastón Ramírez, again using that powerful head that he used to register eight goals for Atlético this year.

Godín wins the Man of the Match award over Ramírez and Italy goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon.
