Lionel Messi and Argentina are one of the favorites to win the 2014 World Cup and today will offer our last chance to see them in action before the big tournament gets underway on Wednesday.
Argentina faces Slovenia in one of the day’s tune-up matches for world powers as Messi, Sergio Aguero and Argentina’s other stars look to avoid the recent injury bug plaguing world soccer stars.
Defending champion Spain is also in action, taking on El Salvador. The reigning World Cup champs should have a good chance to flash their trademark skill against an overmatched El Salvador side still rebuilding after having several national team players banned for match-fixing.
Looking for a match-up featuring two World Cup teams? Look no further than today’s England-Honduras clash. The Catrachos haven’t had the best run of form leading up to the World Cup, and they will look to knock off an England side looking for a good test to get them ready for their eventual World Cup group stage clash against Costa Rica.

Players getting hit with beer cans, sounds like England had a fun day in Concacaf.
Jozy scores! Thank goodness I said “so far”.
I’ve watched a lot of soccer, this is, so far, as bad as I have ever seen the national team play.
Bein Sports has to be the most unprofessional sports broadcasting company. What a joke! Audio going in and out.
Also it seems like their main camera is set up in the last row of the upper deck. The players look like they’re miles away.
Brazil vs Belgium in the WC final. Brazil wins 2-1.
Viva “La Selecta.”
Welcome to CONCACAF, Spain.
Btw, that was not a PK.
There is a post on the USMNT to use Nigeria friendly as dry-run thread saying that Klinsmann’s special advisor Berti Vogts in a German newspaper interview said he fully supports Germany at the World Cup and that he will be sitting in the stands in Brazil and will not celebrate if the USMNT scores a goal against Germany.

so? he was brought in as a consultant. the man is a professional and will scout/consult appropriately. in other words, he’ll do his job. who he cheers for personally is irrelevant and i would assume he would cheer for Germany. how is that surprising?
Good thing Andi Herzog is Austrian!
I’ll be more impressed if the TEAM scores, let alone an 18 year old.
It’s becoming increasingly hard to be civil around people like you.
Has he USMNT coach announced his line-up?
when are we gonna get friendlies in Africa or ASIA? i’d love to see the USA play South Korea or Japan away. like maybe for Veteran’s Day. Use the cash and match to honor the troops.
Why would you subject your players to that kind of time-zone switch for a friendly?
top scorer at the world cup?
For me it’ll be Suarez or Cavani
any chances a US player scores more than 1 goal?
Jozy, 4
Green, 2
Yedlin, 2
Davis, 2
Honestly, I think it will be Neymar, but I don’t think Brazil will win the World Cup. As for Americans, well, I am not sure. I think Dempsey, or Aron, could definitely score more than one. Mix seems to always find the goal. Altidore can always surprise, but it is really a coin toss.
El Kun will win the golden boot.
Julian Green will score the USA’s only two goals.
Which they’ll use to beat Ghana & Germany 1-0 apiece. 0-0 draw with Portugal to top group.
This is a strange comment. First, you’re saying that USA will only score two goals…have you watched us in the last year? Second, apparently a kid who won’t start will be the line goal scorer?
*lone
I think Fred will score the most goals in the World Cup. Altidore will get at least 2 goals.
I found Belgium-Tunisia. The first thing I saw was a bunch of official-looking gentlemen in suits gathered around another guy in the middle of the pitch holding a golf ball-sized hailstone in his hand.
Does anyone know if any of these friendlies have a legitimate, free streaming source? I can find them in the less-legitimate ways but prefer not.
Diego Costa, Juanfran & Xabi Alonso all in the starting lineup for Spain today.
Argentina will be champions. This is going to be Messi’s WC.
I hope it’s Omar’s. But, Messi would be a fine 2nd choice.
sick goal from Argentina
Lionel is not starting today.
