Lionel Messi’s Argentina is now just one game away from a World Cup. After more than 120 minutes scoreless on Wednesday, Argentina had to move past the Netherlands on a penalty kick shootout. It certainly wasn’t the decisive win of the unstoppable German team that reserved their spot in the final, but the result is the same for Argentina. It will mark the country’s first World Cup final since 1990 and Messi’s best chance to add to his résumé as one of the best players in the history of the game.

In Major League Soccer, the league announced their inaugural Homegrown Game as part of the MLS All Star Game. The roster includes standout youngsters like DeAndre Yedlin, Harry Shipp and Wil Trapp. The match will be the first time all-stars are selected from the league’s young homegrown players to compete.
