SALVADOR, Brazil — It just might wind up being the most important day in American soccer history.

The U.S. Men’s National Team takes on Belgium today in the World Cup Round of 16 (4pm, ESPN/Univision), and with a country gaining more and more interest by the day in what the U.S. does, the Americans have a chance to inspire a country and move a step closer to immortality with a victory today.

Standing in the way is a talent-laden Belgium side that is missing some key players on defense, but still boasts plenty of talent across the board, particularly in attack, where the likes of Eden Hazard, Romelu Lukaku and Marouane Fellaini will be ones to watch.

SBI will be providing live commentary on today’s action so please feel free to follow along with the action here. As always, you are welcome to share your thoughts and opinions in the comments section below.

Enjoy the action (SBI live commentary is after the jump):

      • Besler made the worst play but it is uncanny how many goals are scored off of Bradley turnovers. Isn’t it the last three goals scored against us. Again, I’m not saying that Bradley made a terrible mistake and cost us the game. Its just a weird stat.

  1. Wondo is terrible!!!! This is exactly what Wondo does against real competition!!!!!
Terrible moves by Klinsi bringing him and worst mistake playing him!!!!!!!
You can’t tell me Landon would have missed that!!!

  2. We need a sub. I don’t know who for, either Bedoya or JJ, but we look so exhausted after the horribly depleting group games. Couple that with injuries, and you get our team looking drained.

  3. This reminds me of one of those ridiculous youth soccer tournaments in 100 degree heat when you’re almost hoping to lose because there is nothing in the tank. Even if you win, the national champs are waiting in the next round.

  4. Yedlin has been outstanding coming in cold for Fabian. He has been extremely dangerous getting forward, and has kept Hazard handcuffed. LOVE IT.

  5. Not a good pass (though right idea) from JJ on that counter but DY’s pace forces Belgium to play the errant/ambitious ball out. Impressed with Yedlin’s play.

  6. Really wish that sub was taking that worthless POS Bradley out of there. I’m sick of watching him jog, not close down players, give the ball away (unless he’s passing it back to our center backs) and generally not do a damn thing productive.

  7. Clint doesn’t look good. We need Jozy, but apparently he’s not ready. Damn, he is so important, not having Fabian is hurting us too.

  8. Zusi can’t hold the ball at this level. The midfield turnovers are appalling. If the game keeps going this way, the U.S. can’t win. Someone has to find composure on the ball in the final third to make a dangerous pass.
