For all of the LA Galaxy’s struggles this season, Robbie Keane has shown in the past week that when he’s firing on all cylinders, the Galaxy are nearly unstoppable.

Keane scored two goals and had played a role in the build up to Gyasi Zardes’ game-tying goal, leading the Galaxy to a 3-1 defeat of the Portland Timbers at the StubHub Center. Keane’s performance made him an easy choice for SBI MLS Player of the Week.

The 34-year-old put the Galaxy in front in the 73rd minute of Saturday’s match, heading home from close range after ghosting around his defender to get on the end of a Landon Donovan cross. Keane then put the game away in the 85th minute with a calmly taken penalty kick goal.

Keane beat out Nat Borchers, Lee Nguyen, Chris Wondolowski, and Michael Bradley for this week’s honors.
