Danny Mwanga’s reduced role at the Colorado Rapids has him looking towards the east coast for playing time, but it’s not an MLS team that he might soon be joining.

Mwanga is currently training with the New York Cosmos of the NASL, sources have told SBI. The 23-year-old winger is still under contract with the Rapids, but has joined the Cosmos with an eye towards a potential loan move.

Currently in his second season in Colorado, Mwanga has struggled for playing time under first-year head coach Pablo Mastroeni. The speedy Congolese attacker has made just two starts in six league appearances in 2014, which is a drop from the five starts in 13 matches he played in last year for the Rapids.

The Cosmos, who sit in sixth place right now in NASL’s fall season, are no strangers to acquiring MLS players on loan. They currently have Connor Lade of the New York Red Bulls and Seattle Sounders rookie Jimmy Ockford on their books.

Think Mwanga will earn a loan move to the Cosmos? Would that be a good move for him? Should the Rapids be using him a bit more?
