After emerging from the group unscathed, the Under-18 U.S. Men’s National Team continued their winning ways into the final of the International Tournament of Vaclav Jezek.
The U-18’s were crowned tournament champions Saturday with a 1-0 victory over Ukraine in Zlin, Czech Republic, due to a 47th minute Mukwelle Akale finish.
Akale, who was assisted by Cameron Lindley for the game-winning goal, was named the tournament’s top player. The 17-year-old had previously been named MVP of the 2014 Copa del Atlantico earlier this year.
U.S. goalkeeper Jonathan Klinsmann was also recognized for his performances. The 17-year-old was named the tournament’s top goalkeeper for his clean sheet in the final game, and for his with his three save performance in the tournament opener against Hungary.
