There were upsets galore last week in the SBI College Soccer Top 25, as well as several teams that slipped down in the rankings.

A handful of teams benefited from the shake-up, including  Coastal Carolina, which has enjoyed an impressive start to the season despite a brutal early-season schedule. The Chanticleers cracked the Top Five of the SBI Top 25 this week after handing Charlotte it’s first defeat of the season.

UCLA suffered a stunning upset loss to American University last weekend, but the Bruins held on to the top spot in part because of an impressive victory against New Mexico, and because all of the teams right behind them in the rankings also suffered defeats.

The biggest movers in this week’s rankings? UC Irvine has jumped up to No. 6 thanks to a 4-0 start, while Creighton is up to No. 13 with an identically perfect record.

George Mason is in at No. 7 with a 3-0 record that includes a win against American, which debuted in the SBI Top 25 at No. 18 after the win vs. UCLA. Syracuse also jumped into the Top 25 this week on the strength of a 4-0 start.

    • Young team, struggling offense, tough early schedule. They’ll be back in the Top 25 soon enough, just found it tough to put a team with a losing record after four games in the Top 25. Still think they’re one of the best 10-15 teams in the country.
