In Saturday’s thumping of Granada, Neymar and Lionel Messi demonstrated just how dangerous Barcelona can be when the two forwards are on the same page.
The two South American stars combined for five goals Saturday, three of which came from the Brazilian, as Barcelona destroyed Granada by a 6-0 scoreline.
In England, Everton stole a point from rival Liverpool with an extra time Phil Jagielka equalizer, while Arsenal and Tottenham settled for a 1-1 draw as well.
The most impressive performance of the day in Europe was delivered by Atletico Madrid, which handed reigning Europa League champions and previously unbeaten Sevilla a 4-0 thrashing at the Vicente Calderon. Four different goal scorers, including Mexican striker Raul Jimenez, delivered goals for the defending La Liga champions.
In other European action, Juventus and Roma continued their unbeaten runs, Paris Saint-Germain picked up yet another draw while Borussia Dortmund continued their lackluster start to the season with a loss to Schalke.
Here is a closer look at all of Sunday’s action from across Europe’s top leagues:
SPAIN
For the second time in 14 days, Neymar wowed the Camp Nou crowd with a multi-goal performance.
The Brazilian star led the way with a hat trick as Barcelona topped Granada 6-0, as Neymar was joined by Lionel Messi and Ivan Rakitic on the scoresheet. Neymar’s trio of finishes came in the 26th, 45th and 66th minute, while Messi scored in the 62nd minute before concluding the punishment of Granada in the 82nd.
Reigning La Liga champions Atletico Madrid also asserted their dominance by putting together a 4-0 victory over reigning Europa League champions Sevilla. Led by goals from Koke, Raul Garcia, Saul Niguez and Raul Jimenez, Atletico remain undefeated and sit just two points behind Barcelona.
Real Madrid also picked up three points, albeit in less impressive fashion then their rivals, by knocking off Villareal, 2-0 behind goals from Cristiano Ronaldo and Luka Modric.

ENGLAND
A pair of England’s fiercest rivalries saw the teams involved settle for 1-1 draws.
Saturday’s action was kicked off by Merseyside rivals Liverpool and Everton, who benefitted from a spectacular late Phil Jagielka equalizer that canceled out a magnificent curling free kick from Liverpool’s Steven Gerrard. In North London, Arsenal’s Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Tottenham’s Nacer Chadli each scored second-half goals to earn the 1-1 scoreline.
Meanwhile, Chelsea continued their unbeaten run with a 3-0 victory over Aston Villa via goals from Oscar, Willian and league-leading goalscorer Diego Costa. Both Manchester sides picked up three points as well, as Manchester City topped Hull City 4-2, while Manchester United overcame a red card to goalscorer Wayne Rooney in a 2-1 victory over West Ham.

GERMANY
For the third time in six games, Borussia Dortmund were forced to settle for a loss.
This week’s setback came against Schalke, as BVB fell 2-1 due to goals from Schalke’s Joel Matip and Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting. BVB forward Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang pulled one back, but the Gabon international’s finish wouldn’t be enough to prevent his side’s continued slump that sees BVB sit 10th in the Bundesliga table.
Bayern Munich were able to avoid an upset Saturday by knocking off Cologne 2-0 via a goal from Mario Gotze and an own goal from Cologne’s Daniel Halfar. Meanwhile, Borussia Monchengladbach picked up a 2-1 victory over SC Paderborn, while Wolfsburg picked up a 2-1 victory over Werder Bremen.

FRANCE
Despite remaining undefeated, Paris Saint-Germain’s mediocre start to their Ligue 1 campaign continued Saturday.
The Parisian powerhouses settled for yet another draw Saturday, their fifth of the young season, as PSG and Toulouse finished their clash tied at one apiece. Jean-Christophe Bahebeck scored the lone goal for PSG, canceling out Wissam Ben Yedder’s opener for Toulouse.
Lille continued their ascendance up the table with a 1-0 victory over Bastia, while Monaco dropped a 1-0 decision to Nice.

ITALY
With Saturday’s results, both Juventus and Roma demonstrated that the two teams remain the class of Serie A.
The two teams both picked up their fifth win in as many games, as Juventus took down Atalanta, 3-0, while Roma topped Hellas Verona, 2-0.
Juventus were led by a Carlos Tevez brace, as the Argentinian striker found the back of the net in the 35th and 59th minutes. Summer acquisition Alvaro Morata added an insurance goal in the 83rd minute as Juventus picked up their fifth straight clean sheet.
Roma matched Juventus’ point total with a win of their own, with both goals coming late in the second half. After 75 scoreless minutes, Andrea Florenzie gave Roma the lead before Mattia Destro added a second in the 86th minute to secure the result.
