After not starting a game since Aug. 30, Chicago Fire rookie Harrison Shipp made his return to the starting lineup and displayed his passing flair.

Shipp contributed an assist as the Fire earned a draw against Eastern Conference leaders D.C. United on Saturday. It was the 17th draw of the season for the Fire.

The 22-year-old rookie’s assist came in the 16th minute, as the Notre Dame product played a diagonal cross into the path of Quincy Amarikwa, who took a pair of touches before finishing for the game’s opening goal.

Shipp’s sixth assist of the season was enough to earn the Fire midfielder recognition as SBI MLS Rookie of the Week, beating out fellow newcomers Jeremy Gagnon-Lapare, Chris Duvall and A.J. Cochrane for this week’s honors.

What did you think of Shipp’s performance? Which rookie stood out to you in MLS Week 28?
