The first round of UEFA Champions League group stage play will conclude today as teams in Groups E, F, G and H all open play, and there’s one game that rises above the rest.
Bayern Munich and Manchester City will meet for the fifth time in UCL play since 2011, with the Premier League champions testing their mettle at Allianz Arena this afternoon.
Although Bayern has won the group both recent times the two squads were paired up, fortune might be in City’s favor this time with the Bundesliga champions expected to be without Franck Ribery, Bastian Schweinsteiger, Thiago Alcantara, Rafinha and Javi Martinez, while Arjen Robben is in doubt.
However, given Bayern’s recent success in Europe, it would be foolhardy to rule them out.
In another highlight of the day, Ajax will host Paris Saint-Germain with both looking for valuable points in a very challenging Group F.
Barcelona, Chelsea and Roma are all in action today as well.
Later on in the day, there’s action going on in the Copa Sudamerica and Mexican Copa MX, with Ronaldinho likely making his debut for Querétaro at home against Tigres.
Down in Brazil, there’s an always-entertaining Brasileiro Série A fixture scheduled between Palmeiras and Flamengo.

All I know is that is so hard to watch futbol in this country…
It’s always Premier League and MLS…
Boring….
Talk to BeIN, I agree, I like a little Germany/ Italy/ France, etc.
The one thing I like about having Time Warner NYC. I get every possible soccer channel
TWC in Los Angeles works for me. That Montreal v RBNY game got pretty chippy at the end.
The fox sports app is free to download and shows all the games
And the Oscar for “Best actor” goes to !?!?!?!
A: Arjen Robben!!!
Clap _ Clap _ Clap!!!
Naw, wasn’t a dive. Fernandinho(?) moved to impede him and raised put his arm across Robben’s chest.
Now did Robben go down really easy and make it look dramatic? Oh ya for sure. Yup.
It was a dive
Oh c’mon!! You kno he’s a really good actor!
He deserves an Oscar!!!
Such a shame he resorts to those theatrics – he’s a fun player to watch when not cheating
Wow. Roma is completely steamrolling CSKA, it’s getting really ugly, early.
Gyau starting for Dortmund II today.I wonder if that means he won’t be with the first team on the weekend.
