Sporting Kansas City broke out of a four-game MLS losing streak against Chivas USA, and now their attention turns toward taking care of business in the CONCACAF Champions League.

Sporting KC currently sits in last place in Group 2, but they’ve only played one game so far and have a chance to potentially vault into first with two CCL games coming up in short order.

With a rare two weekends off from MLS action, Peter Vermes has the opportunity to field a competitive lineup when Costa Rican club Saprissa visits Sporting Park Thursday night.

Saprissa currently leads the group with four points after a win and a draw against Nicaraguan club Real Esteli, while Sporting KC previously settled for a road draw down in Esteli.

Goalkeeper Eric Kronberg appears to be a candidate to return from a broken hand he suffered in early July, while Vermes could start several regulars to keep them match fit.

The offense seemed to regain its old form last Wednesday against Chivas, as Dom Dwyer, Benny Feilhaber, Graham Zusi and Claudio Bieler each scored.

Many of us would rather talk about Chance’s injury, or other reasons the Sporks are struggling…rather than read dumb comments, and have our user names copied.
