A flurry of big moves marked the end of the European summer transfer window on Monday. Radamel Falcao is off to Manchester United. Javier “Chicharito” Hernandez will head to Real Madrid. Danny Welbeck joins Arsenal. And a whole bunch more.
But U.S. Men’s National Team fans will probably be most interested in Julian Green’s loan to Hamburger SV, which became official Monday. For the 19-year-old German-American, the move from Bayern Munich will likely mean more playing time, which should be good for his game development.
Despite rumors and some apparently aggressive offers, Jermain Defoe is not on Monday’s transfer list. Toronto FC rejected some large bids to lure away the Englishman, with there being a disagreement about whether or not Defoe wanted a transfer to happen.

USL Pro Week 24: A Look Back
This being a post world cup year I expected the Yanks to do much better in the transfer market.
no Yank really impressed individually except for Howard and he is already in the biggest team his talent can get him to.
Which Yank? Yedlin got picked up by Tottenham. FJ got an updated contract with Borussia Monchengladbach just before WC started, Besler got offers but decided to stay home. Green was already with the best team in the world, and Brooks (who did well, but only had half a game) is already playing Bundesliga. Beckerman and Jones and Beasley are too old for big international moves. Who else did you expect offers for?
Chicharito to Real Madrid? Really? He’s not even the best forward from Mexico right now…
Ronaldo’s comments thus far have been pretty good too, essentially: I’m pissed, but no comment because I don’t want to get in trouble…
