SBI College Soccer Top 25 (Oct. 17th Edition)

College Men's Soccer vs. Penn State, 09/13/15_Mike Dickbernd

By IVES GALARCEP

A year after a nightmare season that saw them fall from the ranks of the country’s past, traditional powerhouse Indiana University is back on top of the college soccer scene.

The Hoosiers have climbed to the top of the SBI Top 25 for the first time this season, riding a five-match unbeaten streak that has included victories against Saint Louis, Louisville and most recently Ohio State.

Keeping the top spot won’t be easy though, as Indiana faces resurgent Maryland, which is back in the SBI Top 25 after a rough start to the season saw them tumble out of the rankings. The Hoosiers will also face in-state rival Notre Dame in a clash not to be missed.

Former SBI No. 1 Washington has dropped to No. 4 after a recent loss to UCLA, with the Bruins climbing closer to the top five after starting out the season at No. 1.

Comments

  1. Having seen North Carolina play multiple times, I’m really not very impressed. NC State pretty well outplayed them today with the greater chances, but UNC got a lucky goal near the end to win 1-0. I know they’re supposed to have a lot of good individual players, but they didn’t build attacks very well, and they reacted poorly to physicality.
