It’s a double derby weekend as two city battles commence in Liga MX Round 12.

Club America, who qualified for the Liga MX Apertura Liguilla, or playoffs, with a 2-0 victory over Veracruz on Wednesday, hit the road to take on Cruz Azul in another grand display of the Clasico Joven. The two clubs have had some great battles in recent years, including an epic Liguilla final series in May 2013, which saw America goalkeeper Moises Muñoz score the title-clinching goal on a stoppage-time header.

The weekend meanwhile concludes with the Clasico Tapatio as Chivas de Guadalajara host Club Atlas. Chivas are currently in a three-game winless streak and manager Carlos Bustos announced his resignation. On the other side, the Goat’s rivals Atlas are in third place in the Liga MX standings and have won six games already, with huge performances from Arturo Gonzalez and Enrique Esqueda.

Elsewhere in Liga MX action this weekend, second-place Monterrey host Club Tijuana, Puebla visit surging Toluca, and Santos Laguna look to reverse their recent slide when they host last-place Morelia.
