With just a single point keeping the team in playoff contention, the Vancouver Whitecaps were tasked with picking up a victory over one of the conference’s toughest teams: FC Dallas.
That is exactly what the Whitecaps did, in dominating fashion nonetheless, with a 2-0 victory at BC Place that sees the Whitecaps earn SBI MLS Team of the Week honors.
The Whitecaps jumped on FC Dallas early with goals from Sebastian Fernandez in the 14th and 18th minutes. The hosts never looked back from that point forward, as the Uruguayan’s finishes, which were both assisted by Mauro Rosales, proved to be more than enough to earn a crucial three points against a potential playoff opponent.
As this week’s winners, the Whitecaps beat out a field including the New England Revolution, Portland Timbers and Chivas USA.
