Just 15 minutes into his Melbourne City debut, David Villa gave New York City FC fans a hopeful glimpse of what’s to come.
The on-loan NYCFC forward scored Melbourne City’s equalizing goal in the 62nd minute to earn his side a 1-1 draw with Sydney FC. After entering as a second-half substitute, Villa received a pass from winger Damien Duff and dribbled across the top of the box. The Spanish forward than finessed a shot into the bottom corner to earn Melbourne City a share of the points.
Villa, who joined the A-League club just last week, scored 13 goals last season while with Atletico Madrid before being acquired by NYCFC in June.
