After Wednesday evening’s controversial ending between FC Dallas and the Vancouver Whitecaps, the attention on Thursday night’s Eastern Conference knockout round match has only grown.
Defending champion Sporting Kansas City hit the road to take on the New York Red Bulls for the second time in a week, with a place in the Eastern Conference semifinals on the line. Sporting KC players admitted that they’re playing with heavy legs. The club won just two of their final 10 games of the regular season to end up as the fifth seed.
The Red Bulls on the other hand won three of their last four games and seem to be firing on all cylinders at just the right time. History suggest that this game could turn in any direction, and it may be the final night for Thierry Henry at Red Bull Arena if the hosts fall.
SBI will be providing live commentary on tonight’s match, so please feel free to follow along here. As always, you are welcome to share your thoughts and opinions in the comments section below.
Enjoy the action:
What other sport has lower average attendance in the first round of the playoffs, compared to the regular season?
Just eliminate this round and start right at the conference semis.
The point of this game (as with any of the other sports with a “wild card” type game) is not really attendance for the game itself. It’s about attendance during the stretch run, not only for the teams involved but for the teams who miss out.
Benny should have gotten a look for the WC. What a ball that was. He really is a talent, and I believe could still contribute to the Nats, along with Lee Nguyen.
Live commentary is dope, not enough people say that, for shame, on all of us.
It’ll take some time to fully acclimate to the whole, “it goes up now” aspect, but I’ll adjust…
Yeep, nobody worry about ole Amp over here, gonna take this one in a hammock with a glass a lemonade, please.
