With the Major League Soccer playoffs around the corner, every match counts. The Portland Timbers and the Vancouver Whitecaps pushed out must-wins to keep their playoff hopes alive while the San Jose Earthquakes are out of the playoffs. The Supporter’s Shield race remains tight, with the Los Angeles Galaxy pulling ahead briefly Saturday until the Seattle Sounders tallied a win the next day.
Amid all the playoff shuffling, Landon Donovan’s farewell tour to finish his MLS career continues to go swimmingly. The American legend added another record to his name, nabbing his 136th career assist, good enough for the all-time individual assist record for the league.
And in Americans Abroad action, Rubio Rubin continues to impress for FC Utrecht, setting up two goals within minutes of one another on Saturday, to give his side an early lead.

Univision Deportes has put together a wonderful video with an extended interview with Donovan on his career and his state of mind as he plays his last games with the US and Galaxy:

The interview is all in Spanish (very fluent on Donovan’s part). It would be great if they would put out a subtitled version.
