With the international break in the rearview mirror, Europe’s domestic leagues are finally back in action.
England’s schedule is highlighted by a clash between Tottenham and Manchester City, who enter the weekend unbeaten in their last four Premier League games. In addition, Chelsea visits Selhurst Park to take on Crystal Palace, while Liverpool takes on Queens Park Rangers.
In Italy, Inter Milan take on Napoli as the two sides attempt to claw their way out of midtable. Meanwhile, league leaders Juventus put their unblemished record on the line with a trip to Sassuolo.
In other action, Bayern Munich takes on Werder Bremen, Paris Saint-Germain takes on Lens and the U.S. Women’s National Team takes on Guatemala in World Cup qualifying.

No ManU?
Their game is on Monday, I believe.
Oh yeah, Seattle plays LA for the Supporters Shield in the biggest game of the year so far.
Go Galaxy!
whoa.
LSU vs Georgia?? Where’s the frequent SBI poster “LSU Tiger” when you need him?
I’m an Auburn grad, and we never had an official men’s soccer team after Title IX. Does this mean SEC schools now have men’s soccer teams??? This could be awesome…and as long as we beat Bama. 🙂
Guessing that is womans…keep seeing it on.
It’s women’s. Kentucky and South Carolina are still the only SEC schools that have men’s teams–I think they play in Conference USA for soccer purposes.

Here is a news report by NBC that I am surprised that no soccer sites are talking about. There is growing evidence that turf fields that use synthetic rubber pellets (which are ground up old tires) are causing cancer particularly in goal keepers because they spend so much time on the ground. Apparently its not just bad for ankles and knees.

I remember (you?) someone posting a link to this topic a few weeks ago. To my knowledge, there’s still no proof of a link which may be why no soccer sites are running it.
It’ll be interesting to read when more comprehensive studies are done on the subject, but I remain skeptical.
Important news being ignored. Just go out to any of those fields on a hot day and ask yourself if that smell is healthy. Can’t be. Big implications for high-school and college sports across the country.
Man we will know pretty soon. T minus 9 hours until I am pouring the black pellets into my landscaping after spending four hours on the field again.
Thanks for the link. Looking forward to seeing why that plastic is worse than all the other plastics in my life…..
cuz kittens choke on the pellets.
Becaus it’s not plastic. It’s rubber from old rubber tires that have been ground up.
