Robbie Keane will miss the chance to play against the U.S. Men’s National Team because he is heading back to the LA Galaxy a few days early.
Ireland manager Martin O’Neill sent Keane home after their 1-0 Euro 2016 qualifying defeat against Scotland. Keane only featured as a substitute for the Irish, coming on in the last 10 minutes of the match after Scotland went ahead.
The LA Galaxy play the Seattle Sounders next Sunday, while the U.S. plays Ireland Tuesday.
What do you make of Keane’s early release? Disappointed he won’t be around to test the Americans, or happy to see he will be healthy (and likely extremely motivated) heading into the Sounders series?

Obviously Bruce laid down the law to Juergen and Martin. If Keane gets hurt in the friendly, Bruce never releases Landon for the Nats again.
As a fan of the game, it makes me very sad that Landon is retiring. It is his career, his life, and I am certainly not critiquing his choices. But as he obviously showed against RSL in the second leg, he has tons of soccer left in him. He is just so, so good, and I am thankful that I was able to watch him in his prime.
that’s a little heavy dude
Thanks, gaffer. Happy to have Keano back in LA.
