Club America’s place as the top team in Mexico is under threat from rising challenger Toluca.
This Saturday it’s a top-of-the-table clash as first-place Club America welcome second-place Toluca into Estadio Azteca, with just two points separating the clubs and only two rounds of matches remaining in the regular season. America have stuttered recently, winning just once in their last four, while Toluca have won three of their last five on the back of strong play from Isaac Brizuela, Pablo Velasquez, and defender Miguel Ponce.
As the Liguilla approaches, a number of teams will attempt to make a late run at one of the final playoff places. Cruz Azul, who sit just outside of the top eight, face Pumas UNAM in a crucial late-season match, while Santos Laguna face Pachuca.
Elsewhere in Liga MX action, Atlas and Edgar Castillo host his former club, Club Tijuana, Club Leon face Puebla, and Chivas de Guadalajara take on Tigres UANL.
