Merry Christmas from SBI Soccer

Christmas Santa SBI

By IVES GALARCEP

Hello everybody. I want to wish a Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all of you SBI readers out there. We hope you enjoy some time off, quality family time and a few peeks at SBI in between your unwrapping of presents and celebrating.

We will have a few presents for you in terms of posts today to help quench your thirst for soccer so keep an eye out for those, and feel free to throw some story suggestions our way today as we make our way through a third straight day without soccer to watch (the good news is soccer is on the way on Friday courtesy of the Premier League’s Boxing Day schedule).

Thank you for making SBI part of your Christmas tradition. For those of you who have been around with us for a while, you might know that this is the eighth straight year of our Merry Christmas post, with the familiar Santa playing soccer image. That image has come to symbolize not only the holiday, but also another year of SBI in the books.

The new year is fast approaching, and we at SBI are already working on some fun things for the New Year, but if you find  yourself bored today be sure to check out Episode 183 of The SBI Show and the first SBI 2015 MLS Draft Big Board, which both dropped on Monday.

On behalf of the entire staff at SBI, thank you for making us a part of your soccer world and please enjoy this special time of year.

  1. How about a thread for the best soccer comedy video of the year
(like Studio C’s “Top Soccer Shootout Ever With Scott Sterling” on Youtube).

  2. I’ve always thought that you put Rudolph as the target forward (that big red nose is a target) with Comet and Blitzen as the two wingers – got to have that speed.

Santa goes in goal. Put frosty as your CDM to break up those plays and get the ball to Cupid to be the trequartista.

If they don’t win, blame Jurgen for playing them out of position. Merry Xmas.

  3. Gotta go with the Christmas tree formation:

    Santa
    Blitzen-Rudolph
    Comet-Cupid-Donner
    Dasher-Dancer-Prancer-Vixen
    Frosty

Frosty in goal and Santa as the target forward.

    • USA 2022,

Frosty is too slow, practically immobile to be alone up top.

      Move him to goal

Shift Rudolph there since he is used to being alone out front.

Move Cupid to left back and put Santa in the middle of your back three for his leadership

      • Sorry missed the last sentence but my recommendation to switch Cupid and Santa still stands.

After prepping for Xmas, I doubt Santa has the kind of mobility you want in a left back.

  4. Thank you, Ives!

Because you’ve been a good little boy, I’ve written this Christmas ditty for you:

    The Morning of Christmas
    ————————————–
    Twas the morning of Christmas
    And all through the league
    All of the talk
    Was of NYCFC

    “This is MY League
    And I’ll decides who plays
I am the Don and I schedule the games
    Both home and away”

“There is no promotion or regulation
    That would lead to instability
    And possibly free market play”

“Instead I opt for salary cap strangulation
And, I swear to the best of my ability
I will make you do what I say!!!!”

    • And the whiners were out of things to say
They made up a poem to keep their hearts gay
They wont be happy for such a great sitch
Instead just sit around and non stop…..

Merry Christmas Ives and everyone…even the crybabies.
