This was not the Boxing Day match Tim Howard envisioned.
Everton lost Howard to an injury on Friday, as the veteran goalkeeper sustained a knock to his calf in the first half of Friday’s 1-0 loss to Stoke City. Howard was replaced by back-up Joel Robles at halftime, and while the injury doesn’t appear to be too grave, the American’s availability for Sunday’s visit to Newcastle United seems in doubt.
Adding literal insult to injury was that Howard conceded the game’s decisive tally in the 38th minute, beaten by a Bojan penalty kick that he nearly saved. The 35-year-old netminder finished the game at Goodison Park with one save.
Meanwhile, Geoff Cameron started, went the distance and received a yellow card at right back for victorious Stoke.
What do you think of Howard’s injury? Do you see him having any shot at playing on Sunday?

Newcastle has put 3 past Timmy’s replacement.
So did they have a bunch of injuries and cautions in the first half? Where did the 10 minutes of extra time come from?
I was thinking the same thing.
prediction:
this is t ho’s last game for Everton
Robles starts the rest of the season, he’s martinez’s keeper anyway
t ho starts his ft broadcasting career at season’s end
Prediction:
Your prediction will not be even remotely true.
Adding figurative insult to injury, I would call that.
Or adding insult to literal injury.
Or adding figurative insult to literal injury.
The way he’s been leaking easy goals they’re not going to miss him much.
Obviously, Robles has solved Everton’s “leaking goals” problem
Seemed like a really bad calf cramp to me.
Wow! Lucky he is taking the next 18 months off from the USMNT! Maybe he will have time to groom his beard,….
