With six awards already in her back pocket, U.S. Women’s National Team forward Abby Wambach has a chance to make it seven with this year’s nomination for U.S. Soccer Female Athlete of the Year.

U.S. Soccer announced Tuesday that Wambach, Lauren Holiday, Carli Lloyd, Sydney Leroux and Christen press would make up the five nominees for the award, which will be revealed Dec. 6 during coverage of the draw for the 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup.

Wambach, who was last year’s winner, has won the award on six occasions, with her most recent victory breaking the record of five previously held by Mia Hamm.

The only other previous winner nominated is Lloyd, who took the award in 2008, while Leroux and Holiday had previously won the Young Female Athlete of the Year award in 2011 and 2007, respectively.

  1. All good choices Also, this is pretty decent photoshop work from the USSF (although I do hope the doctors can somehow separate Lauren Holiday and Sidney LeRoux’s thighs at some point before the WWC…. removing the elbow from Sydney’s lung might not be a bad idea either).

  2. No Hope Solo? Didn’t she break some very Important record or are they worried that by the time the award is handed out she’ll be a convicted domestic abuser?

  3. It’s gotta be Lloyd because she is playing better than all except Holiday but unlike Holiday didn’t skip out on the team during the Algarve Cup.
