LAUDERHILL, Fla.– The first day of the 2015 MLS Combine kicks off today as the league’s draft eligible players will be on display for the league’s 20 teams.
Generation adidas signings Cristian Roldan and Romario Williams headline a group of players that includes college seniors as well as some international players added to the mix recently.
SBI will be providing live commentary for all of the MLS Combine action, so feel free to follow along here. As always, you are welcome to share your thoughts and opinions in the comments section below.
Enjoy the action (Today’s commentary is after the jump):
I was a defender so I tend to get lost in the back line. First game very balanced, lot of jitters and lack of familiarity with teammates caused a lot of missed offensive chances especially by predators. Also no serious mistakes by either defense so ended in a draw. Okwouno did fine, I don’t know if it’s me but did not show as much speed as I would expect but probably due to type of attack he needed to defend. Reta (South merican CB) solid, good headers. Nitti really helped himself, brought ball up sides and crossed into box from right and left, headed ball over Sjoberg, ran back line well, nice pairing with Okwouno. Those three played most of the game for Predators. Ballo and Sjoberg played well together, Sjoberg pressured more but responded with solid defending. Neither brought ball up enough to evaluate.
how, is metzger & the injury…
Ali Curtis and Jesse Marsch don’t need to go. They will conduct their draft analysis using metrics from a database consisting of speed, GPA, steps forward, and butts kissed with a standard deviation of 3; then create a histogram with a pie chart. Their model will provide the ideal analysis for parity. Very sporting indeed.
how long are the game’s…
who has come on
any subs?
Thanks for the commentary, fellas. I wish MLS would get back to streaming this event.
A little OT, but has anyone ever even heard of Dennis Flores and Julio Morales?
Flores was a member of the Under-23 Men’s National Team that most recently held a camp in October in Brasilia. Other than that small fact from US Soccer, I haven’t heard much about those guys, or Bono.
Dennis Flores was signed from a US amateur team called Alianza Latina along with defender Miguel Palafox, he’s a regular in Leon’s u-20 setup and has dressed and played for the first team a couple of times.
Morales belongs to Chivas, is on loan to Tepic, has been part of Chivas USA and was part of the Mexican squad for the 2013 U-20 WC
