Two more Premier League clubs have been added to the list of potential suitors for Toronto FC’s Jermain Defoe.

Last season’s runners-up Liverpool and recently promoted Leicester City are the latest teams to be reported as possible landing spots for the TFC forward, who has also been linked with Queens Park Rangers and Hull City.

Leicester City is reportedly the favorite to add Defoe this month, as the club is said to be confident in finalizing a deal for the former Tottenham forward, according to reports out late Friday.

Liverpool’s interest in Defoe stems from the club’s current woes at striker due to the injury issues surrounding Daniel Sturridge. The club is reportedly interested in a short-term move for the striker, while TFC is insisting on a sale rather than a loan.

Queens Park Rangers and Hull City have also had an eye on Defoe, but there is doubt they are willing to pay the price for his contract, reportedly worth as much as $50 million.

Defoe scored 11 goals in 19 appearances in his debut campaign for Toronto FC, although the 32-year-old forward struggled with injuries toward the end of the season.

  2. How embarrassing for the EPL. Toronto didn’t even make the playoffs.
