With less than two weeks remaining ahead of the MLS draft, the league has released a list of eight college seniors who are ready to embark on their professional careers.
Notre Dame midfielder Nick Besler and Oregon State forward Khiry Shelton headline a group that includes five NSCAA All-Americans, including Fatai Alashe (Michigan State), Boyd Okwuonu (UNC), and Andy Thoma (University of Washington).
Besler, the younger brother of Sporting KC centerback Matt Besler, was a member of the Notre Dame side that claimed the 2013 College Cup title. The midfielder played every minute of the Fighting Irish’s 2014 campaign, notching one goal and two assists.
Shelton was named 2014 Pac-12 Player of the Year after leading Oregon State to the team’s first NCAA Tournament appearance since 2003 with 10 goals and 12 assists.
