The 2015 MLS jersey leaks so far (updated)

Portland Timbers leak 2

By CAITLIN MURRAY

The only Major League Soccer clubs to have officially unveiled their new 2015 jerseys so far are the two incoming expansion sides, Orlando City SC and New York City FC. However, that doesn’t mean other jersey designs haven’t already started making the rounds on social media.

(Update: With several jerseys already leaked over the past few weeks, on Saturday one online retailer posted many 2015 MLS jerseys for sale, which have now since been removed. SBI has added images of some of those jerseys to this post.)

The 2015 MLS jerseys are expected to be formally announced during “Jersey Week,” a tradition started in 2013 when most clubs will debut their newest kit designs just before the season opens. Last year, 17 of the league’s 19 clubs participated in the event.

But SBI has rounded up all the leaks that have emerged so far. Some, like the Seattle Sounders’ rumored home jersey, look similar to their previous designs. Others, however, take a bold new approach, like the rumored Portland Timbers home jersey.

Take a look at all the 2015 MLS jersey leaks so far (after the jump):

  1. I am so glad the AMERICAN flag has been removed. Seriously, I never understood it. Contrived patriotism or something…?

Jerseys: Columbus isn’t getting the props it deserves. DC UNITED (not pictured) wins for me (but I’m biased- it is sweet though!). KC is 2nd, Vancouver is 3rd. Toronto’s is nice. Philly’s is ghetto. Portland shat out something odd. Seattle, Houston and Red Bulls… same as it ever was (pretty much).

  2. Dallas needs to bring back the white/red hoops. Red on red was so idiotic. Your team is nicknamed “the hoops” and you remove the look that your fans associate you with?? I was outraged when they pulled that crap. I dont get it.

    • Bad taste? Not quite getting where you’re coming from. Adidas is fine for teams whose base design is plain. As soon as you add stripes or different color sleeves, you run into problems with the shoulder stripes. Nike/Puma/Macron kits would give better options to some MLS teams.

  3. If clubs were allowed to decide who did their jerseys there might be a bit more competition and an overall better product…
    free market… just saying

    • I think at this point, the league is getting a better financial package from just doing business with adidas than it would if the clubs negotiated individually. The trade off is a worse product. Until MLS starts doing better with merchandizing, I think we are stuck with adidas.

      • As a Sporting fan, I disagree. Then again, I think I’ll have to see the players wearing them first before I rush to judgement. I love Toronto’s though. Incredibly simple and sleek.

      • SKC’s look great. I don’t usually like red kits but I applaud Toronto’s as well. Not sure why but I find Portland’s to round out 3rd place for me.

    • Hopefully the Seattlites don’t read this while drinking their Starbucks! […envisioning $5 coffee shooting out their noses from laughing.]

  4. So I have to be the contrarian here,…I like all the jerseys. I am impressed. They have actually improved upon the Red Bulls jersey which I thought was hopeless. TFC is simple,…and it is nice. Vancouver’s shirt does look like Germany circa 1990,…and I like it. Portland,…sweet. Montreal’s is classy. Seattle is Seattle.

Sorry folks,…but they all look great.

  5. Behind the Timbers jersey: is that yellow sleeve the Crew home kit (with grey accents)? And behind the Impact: the red (with yellow accents) the RSL home kit? Looking forward to Jersey Week.

  6. What is with the stupid bottom stripe addidas is using? I first noticed it on Orlando’s kit. It really distracts me and takes away from the design. I really think Orlando missed a great opportunity with their kits. If they got rid of the bottom stripe and used gold stripes and accents instead of white, I would crown Orlando as having the most baller kit of ’15.

      • Hmmm, that posted a little different that what was on the screen:

Just because you have enough fans to make the worst back and forth chant sound good, doesn’t mean you SHOULD do the worst back and forth chant.

Now it is part of the jersey….great.
